Emotional Eating By @Coco_Fitness

Let’s talk emotion eating....

I have found myself the past few weeks triggered to eat emotionally and wanted to talk about it as I know many of you may be dealing with negative emotions right now as well.

So first, what’s emotional eating?

It is eating as a way to suppress or soothe negative emotions, such as stress, anger, fear, boredom, sadness and loneliness?

Major life events or even daily life can trigger negative emotions that lead to emotional eating and disrupt your weight-loss efforts which often is followed by even more negative emotions like guilt, shame, failure!

That’s why emotional eating cycle is so hard to break!

However, I’m here to tell you that it is okay to use food to comfort yourself sometimes but make sure those choices are more mindful and less harmful!

Also understand that your emotional eating is not a problem but rather a solution you came up with to cope with the actual problem (like in my case anxiety triggered by election)

So with that being said, reality is, if you use food to comfort yourself you aren’t emotionally eating unless it’s followed by guilt and shame.

So please, be kind to yourself, listen to your body, and let go of any judgment and guilt because of your choices right now❤️✨and try to nourish your needs in the best way possible💕✨

Does your mood switch a lot? Does your mood get affected by the food you’re eating?

I used to struggle with major mood swings especially around food.

At some point in my life, food was the only thing that was making me happy

Every time I wasn’t eating foods that were stimulating my dopamine & serotonin levels, I would go back to feeling depressed and anxious again

I also felt like I have no control over my food choices which would make me feel angry and frustrated, especially when I was around food “I shouldn’t be eating”.

All those emotions would always lead me to a toxic cycle of binge eating.

Through my personal healing journey and also through working with my clients, I realized that our cravings are not a problem but a solution to the actual root problem.

Sometime it takes an easy fix like healing your gut bacteria through diet modifications, sometimes the issues are deeper and require lifestyle modifications or working with your childhood traumas.

If you can relate to any of the things I mentioned above, I am here for you💖 I’m scheduling new clients for January so don’t hesitate to step a free consultation to see if we are a good fit for each other 💖
